Ready to get comfortable in the woodshop? The Beginner’s Woodshop Workshop is a hands-on introduction designed for beginners who want to learn the basics of carpentry/woodworking in a fun, practical environment.
We’ll start with the fundamentals—getting familiar with different types of wood, common hand and power tools, shop safety, and what each tool is designed to do. From there, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a variety of woodworking skills and get hands-on experience using the tools yourself.
Whether you’ve never stepped foot in a woodshop or you simply want to build your confidence before tackling your first project, this workshop is a great place to start.
Ages 12 & up
Basic wood types and how to choose the right wood for a project
Introduction to common woodworking tools
Shop safety and proper tool handling
What different tools do—and when to use them
Basic measuring, marking, cutting, drilling, and assembly skills
Hands-on practice with woodworking tools
Tips and techniques to help you feel more confident in the shop
No previous woodworking experience is required. Come ready to learn, get your hands dirty, and discover just how much you can create with a piece of wood and the right tools!
After sign up, you will have the optional to purchase a tool kit to get started, take turns with our tools, or bring your own tools!
